Paint and PVA Glue Experiment Continues

Using the same mixture i used for the second net experiment. I dripped the paint on the acetate. It looked really beautiful when it was wet, especially how the colours mixed and moved together. Unfortunately i lost the detail slightly as it dried. The colours became more dull and the mixture was weak which showed once dry. There is still really nice sections like the yellow turning green in the blue and how the blue crosses over to red. Unfortunately, some drips broke when pulled up due to the weakness.
To improve this i will make a stronger mixture and build up the drips with layers so they are thicker.

I decided to use a different PVA glue which worked really well with the paint. However, i used it differently so didnt find out if the first PVA glue was the mixtures problem. I poured PVA glue onto acetate which had some yellow and green print marks on. I did this as the glue picked up the colours on the back. Then i painted on the glue layer. Using mainly blue and occasionally added yellow or red to the tip of my brush. I really liked doing this as the colour mixes with the blue paint and shows up in the paint strokes.

This showed the paint strokes and motions perfectly however it was lost slightly once dried. as the white glue turned see through and for the red and yellow i used the mixtures which i think made them fade when drying. If i used normal paint next time they would dry bolder within the blue.
I really like how the yellow shows through here as it compliments the blue, creating green edges.

Also the way the paint fades out on this next photo as the paint creates veins which are really intriguing, creating a texture.

To develop this i would like to do this again but experiment different paint techniques like use a pallet knife and see the effects i can create. Also, instead of doing little separate paint pieces i would like to create one all over with the colours mixing. I could use it to cover an art piece.

Crete: Drawings

I took a sketchbook with me to Crete, on the plane i doodled this out of boredom. Using coloured pens i created random patterns and lines to draw out the front of a girl. Then using black Biro i added outlines and scribbled her hair and over onto the back of the page. To me this shows a process of turning boredom and negative emotions into creativity and art. The scribbles become less and eventually turn into the colourful patterns before fading completely. I really like the idea conveyed in this drawing, however i dont like the basic cartoon style as i think it shows my lack of drawing skills. The whole piece looks like a doodle and a bit messy. Especially with how the scribbles come out of the hair. I think recreating this with paint would create a better outcome. Instead of patterns it would be a strong mix of bright colours that is faded together like a light cloud. Compared to a mix of black and grey at the back with drips and harsh lines. I could also add some delica...

Artist- Mara Light

Whilst looking at Jenna Andersons art i came across the artist Mara Light. Lights work Focuses on young women in rough, aged appearing paintings. The artists creates beautifully detailed paintings of girls that almost look like porcelain dolls, however the painting itself looks rough and marked up with drips in her work. The contrast of perfection and a sense of neglect to the work conveys the women with the feeling of loss and abandonment. Possibly exposing how their lives are not perfect despite their appearance.       Mara Lights work really captures my attention with the texture as well as the emotions conveyed in the work through the women and their body language. They all look hopeless and lost and all have a story of their own. I have pictured myself creating some artwork with a similar style to Lights and now by using Lights work as a preference i have a chance to look at the details in the rough areas to try and recreate as ...

Final Piece Process

I decided to use a circular piece of wood for my canvas as the wood represents the wildlife taking over in the dream and also consist of a dull colour showing the ruins in my visuals. Additionally, the circle was to represent the world created in the dreamers mind, instead of being a sphere like the actual Earth, its flat to convey how it isn't real. Furthermore, i like the idea of the viewer to be able to spin the wood to blur the image to convey the confusion and spiral down into constant daydreaming to escape anxiety. This was inspired by the ballet dancers i looked at, particularly a drawing i did from a birds eye view to show the circular motion of the skirts when spinning. However, as i have no experience in making my art kinetic after looking into ways to making the piece spin i thought it was best to develop it differently. I plan to paint the eyes of the dreamer on this to show how they are trapped inside their world as well as show how intimate their dream i...
