Paint and PVA Glue Experiment Continues

Using the same mixture i used for the second net experiment. I dripped the paint on the acetate. It looked really beautiful when it was wet, especially how the colours mixed and moved together. Unfortunately i lost the detail slightly as it dried. The colours became more dull and the mixture was weak which showed once dry. There is still really nice sections like the yellow turning green in the blue and how the blue crosses over to red. Unfortunately, some drips broke when pulled up due to the weakness.
To improve this i will make a stronger mixture and build up the drips with layers so they are thicker.

I decided to use a different PVA glue which worked really well with the paint. However, i used it differently so didnt find out if the first PVA glue was the mixtures problem. I poured PVA glue onto acetate which had some yellow and green print marks on. I did this as the glue picked up the colours on the back. Then i painted on the glue layer. Using mainly blue and occasionally added yellow or red to the tip of my brush. I really liked doing this as the colour mixes with the blue paint and shows up in the paint strokes.

This showed the paint strokes and motions perfectly however it was lost slightly once dried. as the white glue turned see through and for the red and yellow i used the mixtures which i think made them fade when drying. If i used normal paint next time they would dry bolder within the blue.
I really like how the yellow shows through here as it compliments the blue, creating green edges.

Also the way the paint fades out on this next photo as the paint creates veins which are really intriguing, creating a texture.

To develop this i would like to do this again but experiment different paint techniques like use a pallet knife and see the effects i can create. Also, instead of doing little separate paint pieces i would like to create one all over with the colours mixing. I could use it to cover an art piece.

Artist: Zarah Abraham

I came across this artist when looking into movement. She films herself drawing with charcoal and creates the marks by moving her body- dancing on the canvas. The marks captures the movements that she creates when listening to music. I would love to try this to draw the movements of the dancers that i vision. I believe it would be difficult to capture as i am not a dancer but i will definitely try beginning with charcoal and possibly moving onto paint as i would love to see how the colours mix when using my body.     I didnt really explore Abrahams style and incorporate it into my work as much as i wanted to as it was difficult to find a way to combine this style at a large scale with other materials. If i had more time i would of used this as a starting point to explore paint, printing and other materials layered up using my body. I feel this would have been a completely different investigation if i had done this.

Crete: Drawings

I took a sketchbook with me to Crete, on the plane i doodled this out of boredom. Using coloured pens i created random patterns and lines to draw out the front of a girl. Then using black Biro i added outlines and scribbled her hair and over onto the back of the page. To me this shows a process of turning boredom and negative emotions into creativity and art. The scribbles become less and eventually turn into the colourful patterns before fading completely. I really like the idea conveyed in this drawing, however i dont like the basic cartoon style as i think it shows my lack of drawing skills. The whole piece looks like a doodle and a bit messy. Especially with how the scribbles come out of the hair. I think recreating this with paint would create a better outcome. Instead of patterns it would be a strong mix of bright colours that is faded together like a light cloud. Compared to a mix of black and grey at the back with drips and harsh lines. I could also add some delica...

Development:

I decided to develop the drawings i did when experimenting with the use of the projector. I felt that these drawings were quite bad as they were quick sketches and details were out of place. For instance the scribbles on the dancers faces look odd and ruin the drawing. As i was looking into rough painting i decided to try experiment with the style. I think between the two my favourite outcome of the paint is of the face, The random pop of colour in the hair and mix of bright colours. I quite like the outcome when using a pallet knife and scraping it down the page with all the colours. The way the colours mix and still stand out from one another. Furthermore, adding paint to the drawing helped illuminate the green pen drawing. On the other hand some features are out of place, for instance the eyes are slightly ff and the lips.    For the dancers, i found acrylic paint to be too runny to mix with colours. I think oil paint might work better. I got the paint...
