I wrapped this piece of paper string round itself really tight then let go and watched it uncurl. I was first intrigued by the triangular shape created when it unwrapped and how it jumped up. Overall the unpredictable shape it creates all together. I could re create these shapes in other art pieces as i found the action of the development interesting. To me it shows the mind of a daydreamer bursting out and taking control.
I took this photo of the string afterwards. I wish i took a few more photos at different angles as this doesnt show how the string has popped out due to take the photo from above. I really like the uncurling shape as it reminds me of the tunnel in Coraline, which i view as depicting similar things to daydreamers as at first she chooses the "fantasy" world as it is more fun until she realises the other mother wants to keep her trapped there as a ghost. I really like the shadow around the edges of the red as it is incredibly dark and the looming shadow is quite subtle until the end, showing how it slowly takes over your mind.
I came across this artist when looking into movement. She films herself drawing with charcoal and creates the marks by moving her body- dancing on the canvas. The marks captures the movements that she creates when listening to music. I would love to try this to draw the movements of the dancers that i vision. I believe it would be difficult to capture as i am not a dancer but i will definitely try beginning with charcoal and possibly moving onto paint as i would love to see how the colours mix when using my body. I didnt really explore Abrahams style and incorporate it into my work as much as i wanted to as it was difficult to find a way to combine this style at a large scale with other materials. If i had more time i would of used this as a starting point to explore paint, printing and other materials layered up using my body. I feel this would have been a completely different investigation if i had done this.
