Paint Videos

Whilst doing some string pulling experiments with watered down acrylic, i filmed how the water acted and the paint mixed as i thought the movements were intriguing and the process of colour change.
In the first video the colour purple infiltrated the blue water i added to the page and as i lifted the page the way it moved, even danced in the water, was really fascinating and unpredictable.
I was using this paint to cover a face drawing i had drew previously using biro. I decided i didnt like it and would paint thinly over to show how the dreamer feels like she is drowning in her own mind. I feel like how the paint acted, before painting over the face, with the two colours was interesting as if they were performing to attract the dreamer before taking over her whole mind. I would like to film more of colours mixing and moving in water.

Even though the paint didnt instantly react to the water being added i really like how the two colours of blue and black are present in the paint markings. I think these colours are really beautiful together like a light summer night.

This third video is to show the string being pulled out and how the paint moves on one of my experiments. However, i think this is one of my worst outcomes as the blue paint was too watery, not allowing the gold to really show up.
This photo is of one of my better outcomes and my overall favourite as i used three contrasting colours of different shades, creating interesting thin lines. You can also see the movement of the paint through the lines as if its a wave. I will definitely be developing this technique, using more colours and string going in different directions.

The last video was to show the paint mixing with watered down blue. I really like how the white paint squeezed out of the bottle, creating layers of wriggly lines. When i added the water, it sat in gaps of the paint making the lines stand out as if it was a snake. I dont believe this particular paint mixing was that interesting but will do this again to focus on different colours and using a pallet knife to spread out lines of the colours.

Paint and PVA Glue Experiment Continues

Using the same mixture i used for the second net experiment. I dripped the paint on the acetate. It looked really beautiful when it was wet, especially how the colours mixed and moved together. Unfortunately i lost the detail slightly as it dried. The colours became more dull and the mixture was weak which showed once dry. There is still really nice sections like the yellow turning green in the blue and how the blue crosses over to red. Unfortunately, some drips broke when pulled up due to the weakness.    To improve this i will make a stronger mixture and build up the drips with layers so they are thicker.    I decided to use a different PVA glue which worked really well with the paint. However, i used it differently so didnt find out if the first PVA glue was the mixtures problem. I poured PVA glue onto acetate which had some yellow and green print marks on. I did this as the glue picked up the colours on the back. Then i painted on the glu...

Mark Making

Earlier this week i was doing some spray painting and using a plant pot to stand the object on. Once i had finished i discovered i had created lines on the pot that faded out. I fell in love with the bright colours together and lines they had created. The way the colours faded out together softly into the natural pot reminded me of the ideas i thought of when on the Island of Spinalonga. The ruins and bare bricks with brightly painted colours over the top, or dancers in colourful skirts. Spray painting could be used to create movement in the skirts.     I wanted to focus on mark making and using basic small materials such as string and tape. Using a yellow highlighter, i created random lines on the page and added some small pieces of tape. Then using a piece of string i lay it down creating loops mimicking the shape of a dancers body. Using charcoal i scraped it over the page. I aimed for the charcoal to cover the highlighter but it still showed throug...
