Dance

I was able to go to a dance class and take photos of the dancers dancing. I wanted to do this so i could focus on their movement, primarily the movement of their skirts.
Luckily for me, for this dance they wore brightly coloured skirts. I got some various photos of the skirts movement when walking in different directions and spinning. I really like the photos where the dancers held their skirts and moved them in motions that captured a circular shape; the shape looks very interesting as it shows a vicious yet delicate movement, and each dancers was unique.

It would've been useful if i could have made the dancers try certain poses or movements that i wanted to see to be able to draw from. However, i plan to do another photo shoot dedicated to this so it is more in the image that i imagine in my art.Additionally, having another person to take photos from a different angle would have helped as i moved around i missed opportunities of planning good angles to take photos. I am also hoping i will be able to do this photo shoot again at a ballet class as the more delicate type of dancing and stretched poses would be interesting to draw, as well as suit what i am imagining more in my image.

Crete: Drawings

I took a sketchbook with me to Crete, on the plane i doodled this out of boredom. Using coloured pens i created random patterns and lines to draw out the front of a girl. Then using black Biro i added outlines and scribbled her hair and over onto the back of the page. To me this shows a process of turning boredom and negative emotions into creativity and art. The scribbles become less and eventually turn into the colourful patterns before fading completely. I really like the idea conveyed in this drawing, however i dont like the basic cartoon style as i think it shows my lack of drawing skills. The whole piece looks like a doodle and a bit messy. Especially with how the scribbles come out of the hair. I think recreating this with paint would create a better outcome. Instead of patterns it would be a strong mix of bright colours that is faded together like a light cloud. Compared to a mix of black and grey at the back with drips and harsh lines. I could also add some delica...

DDTK Canvas Painting + Light

I looked into how light changed the painting on the canvas. I discovered how the light shone through the back, losing the colour in the paint and showing rough brush strokes. The sections of the face that look incredibly light added a sense of loss of form as if the dreamer wasn't really in solid form and disconnected completely. I found that by moving the canvas away from the light, the painting faded similarly showing how the dreamer loses their identity and becoming a ghost.     I also took a video of the light moving in the reflection of the glass, similar to how the light reflected in the plastic frame of the film. I really like how it moves across in a line as if it is wiping the dreamers mind clean. I also like how the gaps between the glass breaks up the line sectioning it yet when looking at the video overall the eyes blur that line into one showing how many things influence dreams, building it up until it overtakes the drea...

PVA Glue Paint Mix

Using a plastic mask, i poured PVA glue in and spread it about in hopes so i could add paint and peel it out afterwards. This PVA glue breaks up the paint when added. I mixed a lot of blue in so the peel would be a deep blue like a deep ocean to express a sad, isolated emotion to convey the dreamer drowning in their mind. I proceeded to add yellow, white, pink and black. The other colours are to represent the other colourful dancers to show how they are still present even if this colour is dominating right now.   I found the movement of the paint spreading incredibly interesting as it instantly began to disperse and lose its colour amongst the blue. Unfortunately, i couldnt get the PVA glue to settle and dry with the black paint present like in the second video as i couldnt set the mask down flat.     Using the edge of a pallet knife, i pulled the white paint out. I really enjoyed doing this and being able to mix the colour in the moment. Again the PVA ...
