Artist- Jenna Anderson

The amount of details in her works of beautiful forests and abandoned places haunted by faceless spirits in a world she has created of another time. I love the incomplete style of her work, lack of colour creating a quick sketch feel to the black and white drawings. However making the little bit of colour added even more captivating and bright as she uses it to connect the living and the dead in her mesmerising work.

She has a rough but detailed style in her paintings which i feel adds to the story created in her work, a feel of real life which is never perfect. The way she has created the reflection in the mirror as well as the light from the windows really bring a realistic feel to this room as if you could just step into it.
I have a huge interest in Andersons choice of subject in her "Restless Spirits" work. Exploring fiction and fantasy worlds can never be dull as each person imagines something completely different which means unlimited possibilities to be able to create in.

I feel i only briefly looked at this work in my own art. I wish i had explored this style further as i never really showed the context of the girls dream, the ruins and plants in a realistic element instead of abstract. I think it may have been interesting to have showed it in a drawing with the dancers in colour to stand out as the real emotions of the dreamer in her fantasy. However, i still stand by the abstract version where it is shown through the materials present as other people can not see ones dream.

Crete: Drawings

I took a sketchbook with me to Crete, on the plane i doodled this out of boredom. Using coloured pens i created random patterns and lines to draw out the front of a girl. Then using black Biro i added outlines and scribbled her hair and over onto the back of the page. To me this shows a process of turning boredom and negative emotions into creativity and art. The scribbles become less and eventually turn into the colourful patterns before fading completely. I really like the idea conveyed in this drawing, however i dont like the basic cartoon style as i think it shows my lack of drawing skills. The whole piece looks like a doodle and a bit messy. Especially with how the scribbles come out of the hair. I think recreating this with paint would create a better outcome. Instead of patterns it would be a strong mix of bright colours that is faded together like a light cloud. Compared to a mix of black and grey at the back with drips and harsh lines. I could also add some delica...

DDTK Canvas Painting + Light

I looked into how light changed the painting on the canvas. I discovered how the light shone through the back, losing the colour in the paint and showing rough brush strokes. The sections of the face that look incredibly light added a sense of loss of form as if the dreamer wasn't really in solid form and disconnected completely. I found that by moving the canvas away from the light, the painting faded similarly showing how the dreamer loses their identity and becoming a ghost.     I also took a video of the light moving in the reflection of the glass, similar to how the light reflected in the plastic frame of the film. I really like how it moves across in a line as if it is wiping the dreamers mind clean. I also like how the gaps between the glass breaks up the line sectioning it yet when looking at the video overall the eyes blur that line into one showing how many things influence dreams, building it up until it overtakes the drea...

Artist- Micayla Gatto

I dont particularly like Micayla Gatto's art as it doesnt create a huge interest in me as i dont connect to it emotionally. However i do like her use of vibrant colours, especially the electric blue in the first photo, strong lines and shapes used throughout her different works of mountains and scenery.     Each section of her work is different in details and colours, which is what drew me to her work originally.  Furthermore, her work contains layers in them which is something i would really like to focus on when creating my own work. Creating layers through use of building up on different materials as well as drawing and painting together as i am always too impatient and rush the process of building up the details.
